Travel Notes
Here I am in Mexico City!
Keep your head up!
Follow advice from locals and stay away from certain neighborhoods.
Otherwise be curious, keep walking, and you're guaranteed to fall in love with the city.
Go to the wet markets.
Go to the antique markets.
Eat from street vendors.
Make a reservation to see a Luis Barragán structure or two
Spend a couple hours at the Biblioteca Vasconcelos
Talk to as many people as you can
One Sunday after coming out of a museum I hear some really good sounding cumbia coming from a nearby park. Upon further inspection there are a group of elder people dancing together. The DJ is spinning 45s and pushing out the sound with what looks like a handmade soundsystem. Unbelievable!!! I spent the next 2 hours lurking around the music equipment, wishing I knew how to dance, being washed away by the cool rhythms.
To study the work of Luis Barragan is to study Mexico. Reservations required at Casa Estudio Luis Barragán. Contax T3 on KODAK GOLD 200.
The impressive Soumaya Museum. Contax T3 on KODAK COLORPLUS 200.
It's difficult to describe how much Mexican's love food. This lady is selling from the boot of her car. Not pictured are the 10 or so people waiting to get theirs. Contax T3 KODAK GOLD 200.
First of many visits to Mercado Jamaica, one of the largest markets I've ever been to in the world. Contax T3 on KODAK GOLD 200.
Biblioteca Vasconcelos was so beautiful I went back a second time to take it in.
Mercado Jamaica is a legit maze. Contax T3 on KODAK GOLD 200.
Mercado Jamaica's flower market. Contax T3 on KODAK GOLD 200.

Hi 👋🏽
From the museum looking out into the park. I could hear the cumbia from here.
Sunday dancing at a local park in CMX. Contax T3 on KODAK GOLD 200.
DJ dressed in white.
This guy could really swing. Makes me want to drop everything and move to CDMX to learn Spanish and dancing.
